Cuban pianist Frank Fernandez on Sunday described as special the concert he will give at Sala Dolores, in Santiago de Cuba, to pay tribute to Cuban patriot Frank Pais.

Frank Pais was a young Cuban revolutionary leader from Santiago de Cuba who was assassinated on July 30, 1957.

Fernandez told reporters that the concert is an opportunity to remember Frank Pais, a young man with a strong personality, an outstanding revolutionary leadership and musical sensitivity, who died for Cuba's freedom.

He said that tonight's program will not be sorrowful, but it includes some solemn pieces, including one composed by Ernesto Lecuona.

The program will consist of several compositions of different kind, such as Beethoven's 4th Concert and a more recent work specially composed for this tribute by another personality from Santiago de Cuba, Harold Gramatges.

Fernandez will be accompanied by a great orchestra formed by musicians from Camaguey, Holguin and Santiago de Cuba, who will be conducted by Enrique Perez Mesa, director of the National Symphonic Orchestra.
