As promised, Miami rap star Pitbull will find himself in Kodiak, Alaska as part of a promotional tour with Walmart.

In an email to the Associated Press, Walmart spokeswoman Sarah Spencer confirms Pitbull - real name Armando Christian Perez - will be at the Kodiak Walmart on Monday, July 30.

Pitbull, in a promotion with the retail giant and Sheets Energy Strips, agreed to visit whichever Walmart got the most "likes" on its Facebook page.

That inspired The Boston Phoenix writer David Thorpe to start a social media campaign to get his followers to boost the Kodiak store's numbes. He used the Twitter hashtag "(hash)ExilePitbull."

Thorpe has said he'll join Pitbull in Kodiak.

Kodiak Island is about 225 miles southwest of Anchorage.
