Cuba will face Japan on Friday at the opening of the 2012 World Volleyball League, while including its aspirations of a qualifying slot for the Olympics in London. The competition Group A will be first staged in the city of Hamamatsu, where shortly before defending champion Russia and Serbia will be facing eachother.

According to the program, Cuba will face Serbia on Saturday, and the next day will leave this venue after playing against Russia.

The Group A teams will play the next phase from June 15-17 in the city of Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic, which assumed to host Cuba because of the refurbishment work still run at the Sports City Coliseum, in Havana.

The third phase of this group, from May 22-24, will be held in the city of Kaliningrad, in Russia, and the fourth one from May 28-30 in the city of Novi Sad, in Serbia.

The other groups of the World League are composed by Brazil, Poland, Finland and Canada in the B, Italy, the United States, France and South Korea (C), and Argentina, Bulgaria, Germany and Portugal (D).

The World League final stage will be held from July 4-8 in the city of Sofia, in Bulgaria, where, besides the host, the top two teams of each group will be qualified and also the best second place.
