The Mayor of the municipality of Libertador, Caracas, awarded the Francisco de Miranda Order of Merit to the Cuban group Buena Fe, acknowledging particularly the band's lead singer and composer Israel Rojas and guitarist and singer Yoel Martinez.

The condecoration was handed down by Rodriguez in the May Day concert at the
Municipal Theater, one of the most beautiful and representative theaters
of Caracas.

According to the local media, the mayor reminded the audience that a few
months ago, the Cuban musical group had been given the Key to the City of
Caracas, an acknowledgement granted to foreign artists, and went on to
note that Buena Fe were like “one of the family”, “they are our brothers
–he said-, and today we want to honor them again.”

The Francisco de Miranda Order was created in 1943 as an award to
recognize scientific services, deeds in favor of the progress of the
country and outstanding merits in other fields, such as culture.

This week, dedicated to the working class in Venezuela, the Order to the
Merit of Work was bestowed on Cuban TV and Telesur journalist Rolando
Segura for the valued denunciating testimonies he put out to the world
during the first months of the aggression to Libya, which concluded with
the murdering of Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi.
