As part of the activities that have prepared the Uruguayan delegation to attend the International Book Fair of Havana is a photographic exhibition on Mario Benedetti.
Benedetti, who died in May 2009, he wrote over 80 books of poetry, novels, short stories and screenplays, and was awarded the Queen Sofia Prize for Ibero-American Poetry (1999), the Ibero-American Prize José Martí (2001) and the Menendez Pelayo International Prize (2005), among others.
The Uruguayan official delegation at the fair will consist of the essayist Jorge Chagas, linguist and singer Magdalena Coll Denoir Diane. In addition, invited by the organization of the Fair attend the poet Fabián Severus.
Coll participate in a discussion with teachers and students of the Institute of Linguistics at the University of Havana, the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) in a statement.
As part of the parallel activities of the Uruguayan Fair will take part in a workshop on Afro-Caribbean literature and presented "The Loneliness of the general," Chagas' work on the geneal Jose Gervasio Artigas, liberator of Uruguay.
In addition, Chagas will lecture on "Speaking of Afro Uruguayans" and Severo give poetry readings.
Within the Latin American film series "Our Heroes" is projected the film Uruguayan "The Redota" on the fly into exile of Artigas.
On Thursday 16 at the Cuban Art Building of the National Museum of Fine Arts, Diane Denoir give a concert.
