2011.10.03 - 08:55:49. radiorebelde.icrt.cu. Havana, Cuba.-  The red book on the vascular flora of Pinar del Río province, which shows the results of the studies about the threaten flora in that Cuban territory, constitutes an important contribution to the Botanic on the inland.

The above mentioned is a fact not only because of it is the first book of its kind but also due to the really high quality of the information on each specie as well as other parts of that scientific work like the catalog about species that require more priority and conservation.

This way, the book is literally at the fingers’ tips not only for experts but also for conservation enthusiasts in relation to the knowledge on species of plants as well as the harmful impact that affect them all which is truly essential to achieve a sustainable use of the vegetable resources.

Specialists from the Botanic Gardens of Pinar del Río and the main authors of the book include Armando J. Urquiola, Lisbet González-Oliva, Roberto Novo Carbó and Zenia Acosta Ramos. The botanists were awarded by the Cuban Sciences Academic with one of its main national prizes due to outstanding results in the scientific study.
