Afinidades (Affinities), co-directed by Jorge Perugorria and Vladimir Cruz, the two actors of the film Strawberry and Chocolate (1994), will participate in the 2nd Festival of Iberian American Cinema, to be held in Rome from  October 4th through the 9th.

The first work, premiered on February 3, 2011, was shot at the Guama tourist center of the Laguna del Tesoro, in Cienaga de Zapata, Matanzas province.

The plot unfolds during a weekend in which two couples carry out a kind of emotional journey and go beyond certain limits and know the price they have to pay for doing so.

With this Spanish-Cuban co-production, Perugorria and Cruz began their career as directors. In addition to directing it, they shared the main roles in the film with Spanish actress Cuca Escribano and Cuban Gabriela Griffith.

Around 15 films from nine countries will be screened during the event, 10 of them shown for the first time in the Italian capital, according to organizers.

Sponsored by the Cervantes Institute in Rome, the Festival includes feature films, documentaries and animated films made over the last two years in Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, Uruguay, Venezuela, Spain and Portugal.
