HAVANA, Cuba.- The team is made up of 10 pitchers, three catchers, six infielders and five outfielders, with Alfonso Urquiola as the manager and José Hernández and José Roberto Medina as coaches.The pitchers are Dalier Hinojosa, Freddy Asiel Álvarez, Miguel Lahera, Miguel Alfredo González,Yadier Pedroso, Norberto González, Jonder Martínez, Vicyohandri Odelín, and Yulieski González, all with international experience and the rookie at this level Alberto Soto la O.

The Cuban national baseball commission  announced the 24-man team that will participate in the upcoming World Championship to run from October 2 through the 15th in Panama City.

In the infield Cuba will present José Dariel Abreu, Héctor Olivera, Yulieski Gourriel, Bárbaro Arruebarruena, Michel Enríquez and Rudy Reyes, and in the outfield Alexei Bell, Alfredo Despaigne, Frederich Cepeda, Giorvis Duvergel and Rusney Castillo.

The catchers will be Ariel Pestano, Frank Camilo Morejón and Yosvani Alarcón.

The delegation is headed by the National Baseball commissioner Higinio Velez, and includes former star Victor Mesa as batting coach.

Cuba will play a short tournament at the venue of the world championship, prior to its beginning as training.

After this event Cuba will reduce the squad to 21 men to attend the Guadalajara Pan American Games, scheduled for the end of October.
