The 22nd International Congress on Orthopedics wound up on Friday in this capital with lectures by experts, among which a keynote lecture by Rodrigo Alvarez Cambras, president of the Cuban Society of Orthopedics, excelled.

On Friday, Alvarez Cambras tackled lesions in athletes, and Dr. Mario Armando Castellanos, from Mexico, focused on arthroscopy, its origins and evolution in the world.

This procedure is also used in ankle, hip, shoulder, spine, wrist and elbow, specified Dr. Alvarez Cambras.

During the 22nd International Congress of the Cuban Society of Orthopedics, which took place parallel to the 2nd Cuba-Mexico Meeting on this specialty at Havana’s Frank Pais Orthopedic Complex, the island’s experience in implants of shoulder and elbow, with the use of modern prostheses, was also presented.

The head of the National Group of Orthopedics underlined that so far the results obtained with these implants are very encouraging, in spite of the complex nature of surgeries.(ACN)
