2011.09.24 - 12:58:44 /radiorebelde.icrt.cu. Cienfuegos, Cuba. - Members of the Solidarity-with-Cuba Campaign of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland are carrying out a three-day tour of economic, health and educational institutions in Cienfuegos.

Mostly made up of university professors from Northern Ireland, Scotland and England, the visiting delegation met with the rector and with professors of the university in this central province.

Educators of specialties like Law, Genetics and Biotechnology and Arts asked questions about the syllabuses in similar degrees and about the economic and social impact of the US blockade against the island.

The visitors, most of them traveling to Cuba for the first time, also offered their vision of university training in their respective territories and expressed their willingness to establish relations with the Cienfuegos university.

Heather Shay, an Anthropology student and the youngest member of the group, told ACN that she was impressed by Cuban reality, and happy for exchanging experiences about education in the UK.

Previously, they visited a vegetable garden with outstanding results in urban agriculture.

The tour of Cienfuegos also includes visits to the senior citizens’ home at the Reina Popular Council and the tourist complex of Rancho Luna beach.

Eduardo Mayon, provincial representative of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples, informed that –before its arrival to the southern territory- the delegation visited the University of Havana, the Latin American Medical School, the Museum of the Revolution, and the Museum of Fine Arts.(ACN)
