By: Osmany González Tocabens. Havana, Sep 22 (Prensa Latina) Hurdler Dayron Robles, current world record breaker, will lead the national track and field team to participate at the 2011 Pan-American Games of Guadalajara, Mexico, the National News Agency reported Thursday.

Robles, 24, and also winner of the 2011 Diamond League, will run in the city of Jalisco while seeking to defend his regional title, which he won four years ago in Rio de Janeiro.

The national track and field team also includes pole-vaulter Lazaro Borges, silver medalist in Daegu-2011; javelin thrower Guillermo Martinez, hammer thrower Yipsy Moreno, discus thrower Yarelis Barrios, and decathlete Leonel Suarez.

The team is also composed by triple jumpers: Mabel Gay, silver in the 2011 Diamond League; Yargelis Savigne, Alexis Copello and Yoandri Betanzos; shot put throwers: Carlos Veliz, Misleydis Gonzalez and Mailin Vargas; and javelin thrower Janet Cruz.

The main goal of the track and field national team in the Pan-American Games of Guadalajara, scheduled from Oct. 14-30, is to improve the medal table reached in Rio de Janeiro-2007, where the team won 12 golds, 8 silvers, and 10 bronzes.
