The "Todos con Voz" medical brigade, made up of Cuban and Nicaraguan doctors, has made 14,676 house visits in only six days to update a study on mental and physical disabilities aimed at improving government programs.

The brigade includes Cuban doctors who arrived on Sept. 10, members of the National Movement of Sandinista Doctors, and more than 300 Nicaraguan students from the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana.

The medical students will finish their studies under professors from the Ernesto Che Guevara Medical Brigade from Cuba, well known in Nicaragua for its services in the last four years.

"Todos con Voz" is currently visiting the departments of Managua, Masaya, Carazo, Granada, Rivas, Leon, Chinandega, Matagalpa, and Jinotega, the head of the Che Guevara Brigade, Dr. Alfredo Rodriguez, told Prensa Latina.

The program includes visits to the homes of disabled people and informational talks with locals, and doctors are providing medical services to those who need it.

President Daniel Ortega yesterday thanked the Cubans for their solidarity, and reiterated his commitment to creating more healthcare programs, as well as his government's willingness to help all families, especially those living in extreme poverty.

"Todos con Voz" will and must continue, with 156,255 families expected to be visited in the next five years, Ortega said.
