HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 7 (acn) Cuba's Deputy Foreign Minister Abelardo Moreno criticized in Belgrade, the Serbian capital, the military intervention of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Libya and said that a similar scenario should not be created in Syria.

Speaking in the final session of a two-day meeting to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM), Moreno noted that, although the Western powers disguise this kind of invasions as "preventive wars" to protect
civilians, they are actually attempts to jeopardize and undermine the sovereignty of other nations.

According to Granma newspaper, participants in the meeting in Belgrade analyzed the governing principles of NAM, of which Cuba is a founding member.

They ratified the organization's willingness to persist in the peaceful resolution of conflicts, world disarmament, and the defense of international law.

More than one hundred countries are NAM members today. The group's first conference took place in Belgrade on September 6, 1961.
