HAVANA, CUBA, Sept 5 (acn) The director of the printing enterprise "Union Poligrafica", in Cuba, Mirla Diaz Fonseca, announced that this company produced more than 16 million notebooks for the new school year.

Diaz told ACN that this institution also manufactured 7.8 million workbooks and more than 4.1 million text books oriented to different teaching levels in the country; as well as nearly 400,000 materials such as tabloids, pamphlets, and other teaching materials.

In contrast with the previous year, this institution made a better performance during the present one, which resulted in a 14 percent growth.

She highlighted the work of other graphic companies throughout the country in the production of these materials.

Diaz noted that the Union Poligrafica is committed with assuring the continuity of this new school year with another supply of materials, mainly text books and notebooks, for the second semester.

The director of this enterprise explained that it also produces materials for the health, food, and tourist sectors, among others, and exports other products to the Dominican Republic and Spain.

This institution employs about 3,500 workers nationwide. It is made up of 20 state companies and three associations with foreign companies.
