HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 29 (acn) Renowned writer Daniel Chavarria launched his autobiographic book "Y el mundo sigue andando, memorias" (And the world keeps moving, memories) during the Book Festival held last Saturday, at the Fe del
Valle Park, in Havana.

In 589 pages, Chavarria tells his story from his childhood until today, and his struggles in several countries and in different characters as intense as a gold prospector in Brazil, an iron and steel worker in Germany, and a revolutionary plotter in Colombia.

The Cuban National Literature Award winner commented during the meeting that several editors had encouraged him to write an autobiographic book, but he felt too embarrassed to do it.

He said that only famous figures like Charles Chaplin, Winston Churchil, or Stefan Sweig, wrote memories.

Yet, he realized he had a large number of followers in Cuba so as to write a book of this kind, and he decided to embark on this adventure.

Chavarria told his audience that it only took him five months to write this piece, and that he felt very comfortable at doing it.

He affirmed that he found material enough in his memories so as to write a novel out of his life and it was not difficult.

Chavarria was born in San Jose de Mayo, Uruguay. He traveled to Cuba in 1969 and has lived in Havana ever since.

He is the author of pieces such as Joy, Adios muchachos, La sexta isla, Aquel año en Madrid, El rojo en la pluma del loro, and Viudas de sangre, among others.
