2011.08.29 - 13:22:13 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu. Bronze Medal for Cuba at Boys’ Youth Volleyball Championship. HAVANA, CUBA.-  Cuban players walked away with the bronze medals of the 2011 FIVB Boys’ Youth Volleyball World Championship that concluded on Sunday in Argentina after a solid straight-set victory (25-18, 25-17, 25-21) over France.

Yordan Bisset and Lazaro Fundora once again led the Cuban attack with 19 and 17 points, respectively, while Soane Falafala was the top French scorer with 15 units.

Thus, the Cubans —who had lost in semifinals to Spain 3-1 on Saturday— won their first medal ever in this event —under 19 years old—, where they have participated now five times.

In the gold-medal match, Serbia successfully defended their title with a hard-fought five-set victory over Spain (25-23, 25-19, 28-30, 16-25, 15-11). (ACN)
