HAVANA, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- The U.S.-Cuba Friendship Caravan organised by the U.S. non-governmental group Pastors for Peace delivered over 100 tons of humanitarian aid to Cuba on Tuesday, reports China's news agency Xinhua.

The shipment, following the group's July 22 visit, contained computers, bicycles, medical equipment, wheelchairs, crutches, toiletries and school supplies, authorities said.

According to the Cuban authorities, the aid will be distributed throughout the country based on an official analysis made by several entities, including the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples.

The visit of Pastors for Peace members in July was the group's first without its founder and leader Lucius Walker, who died in September 2010.

Walker has long opposed the U.S. embargo against Cuba by bringing humanitarian aid to the Caribbean island nation.
