Miami-based Marazul Charters, a licensed Cuba travel service provider, partnered with non-profit MEDICC to offer research tours for U.S. health professionals.

MEDICC, an organization based in suburban Atlanta that fosters medical cooperation between Cuba and the United States, said it joined as a program consultant with Marazul, to develop specialized research programs for American healthcare professionals about Cuban health care.

The Obama Administration now allows non-Cuban Americans to travel to Cuba under “people-to-people” programs.

Recent program topics include maternal-child health, sickle cell disease, medical education, healthy aging, and disaster mitigation and management.

Upcoming programs for 2011-12, according to MEDICC, include climate change and public health, health equity, integrative medicine, health systems, and gender and health.
