By: Osmany González Tocabens.  13:03Havana, Aug 17 (Prensa Latina) Mijain Lopez (120-kg), Greco-Roman wrestling champion in Beijing (2008), is leading the men´s national team to the 2011 World Wrestling Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, Sept. 12-18. Lopez, also world champion in Budapest (2005), Baku (2007), Herning (2009), and Moscow (2010), will seek his fifth title, which would place him in an exclusive group.

The Greco-Roman team alos comprises Pablo Shorey (84-kg), silver medalist in Moscow (2010); Pedro Isaac (66-kg), bronze in Herning (2009); Pan-American champion Yasnier Hernandez and Yunior Estrada (55-kg), who placed seventh in Moscow (2010); all of them coached by Pedro Val.

The freestyle team is headed by Frank Chamizo (55-kg), bronze medal winner in Moscow (2010); followed by Alejandro Valdés (60-kg), Livan Lopez (66-kg), Yuniesky Blanco (74-kg), and Disney Rodríguez (120-kg); all of them coached by Julio Mendieta.

The 2011 World Wrestling Championship in Istanbul will provide qualification to the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and Cuban wrestlers seek to win as many slots as possible.

For the first time in the last three years, no Cuban women wrestlers are going to the competition.
