By Daniel Alejandro Benítez Quiñones . Amy Winehouse was back in the news in almost every newspaper in the world. First, the cause was her recordings, then her drug addiction and now, her death at 27.

Nobody expected it. Despite of the scandals in her latest live performances and the tour cancellation, few thought that her end was so close. Many believed in the recovery of the winner of five Grammy Awards for the musical album Back to Black.

Possessing a powerful voice that moved easily between the soul, jazz, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll, Winehouse failed to stay away from drugs and scandals, common in England.

Despite only having two CDs, her extravagant way of dressing and stage projection made her an icon of the mass media, which followed each setback, her marital problems and follies.

Thus, she seemed a star in decline at only 27. She had lost its beautiful pack and showed her more terrible face, a girl trapped by drugs.

Her death, which we still do not know the exact cause, may be used to raise awareness to talk and discuss about drug addiction, a topic that is handle very well by large transnational media when trying to hide this kind of news.

Amy's family requested British authorities to help in the creation of a Foundation dedicated to the rehabilitation of young people addicted to drugs, a noble initiative that will fight against the damage of this scourge.

This must be a fight involving everybody. Mitch Winehouse, Amy’s father, stated that the only rehab center for children in the UK closed last year, although he had appreciated the "will" of the government to make things better.

Hopefully this will happen. Amy’s case is not the first and unfortunately it won’t be the last. It may serve at least to look deeper into this problem to know the people who earn money off the talents of artists.

Drugs have never been the solution to the problems of reality, to some, it is only momentary escape; a trip that may not have return.

The Winehouse’s albums are back again in the market. It is news in social networking. However, unlike five years ago, she can not enjoy her success.
