HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 1 (acn) The current process to update the national economic model is the center of attention during the Seventh Ordinary Period of Sessions of the Seventh Legislature of the Cuban National Assembly (Parliament) that takes place on Monday at Havana's Convention Center.

After four days of work by the 12 standing commissions of this legislative body,the 614 members of the Cuban Parliament are expected to support the Guidelines of the Social and Economic Policy approved last April at the Sixth Congress of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC).

During the session, they will listen to reports on the implementation of the accords reached in that April meeting and also on the implementation of the Economy Plan in the first half of 2011.

On Saturday and Sunday, the parliamentarians listened to reports from Jose Miyar Barrueco, Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment; and Cesar Ignacio Arocha Macid, Minister of Transportation; as well as from the Agricultural and Food Commission, and the Health and Sports Commission.
