By Gabriela Ávila Gómez, Student of Journalism. Children, teen agers and grownups, enjoyed in Factoría Habana the presentation of the demos of Meñique, the first Cuban animated movie in third dimension (3D).

As part of the activities of the summer program Rutas y Andares, organized by the Office of the Historian of the City, was organized a conversation with Ernesto Padrón, director and script writer of the proposal.

During the meeting was screened Camuflaje, the first finished scene and the sketches of characters and locations.

According to Padron, the project started in two dimensions, but the technical team opted for a 3D option, which is more advanced and creative.

He added they made a short movie titled El mundo de Meñique, in which they will offer details and data that is not included in the work.

Meñique will include the voices of Lieter Ledesma, Yoraisi Gómez, Corina Mestre and Osvaldo Doimeadiós, among many others. The soundtrack is created by Silvio Rodríguez.

It is a free version of the French story, adapted by Jose Marti for the magazine La Edad de Oro and will include new characters, such as the witch and the magic powder compact.

Made by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Arts and Industry and the University of Information Sciences, the movie will be premiered in January 2013, honoring the 160 years of the birth date of Jose Marti.

The production team is made by 132 people among managers, filmmakers and technicians and will by 80 minutes long.
