Cuba: Raul Castro Received Hugo Chavez in Havana

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 17 (acn) Cuban president Raul Castro received his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez on Saturday night at Havana's Jose Marti International Airport.

Earlier Saturday, Chavez "who underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor last month in Cuba" said that doctors have not found malignant cells in any other part of his body. "However", he added, "there is always the risk that cancer cells could reappear and so it is necessary that doctors take an aggressive approach."

Hours before he left Venezuela with the permission of the National Assembly (Parliament), the president delegated some of his powers to his vice president and finance minister, including managing the country's budget.

Chavez was also met at the Havana airport by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.
