2011.07.12 - 13:41:58 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu. HAVANA, CUBA.-  The president of the Peruvian Olympic Committee, Jose Quiñones Gonzalez, began on Tuesday a three-day official visit with the purpose of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the filed of sports.

Upon his arrival at Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport, Quiñones expressed the interest of his country in the assistance of Cuban specialists for the Bolivarian Games of 2012, which they will host and whose program includes competitions in more than 40 sports disciplines.

He added that Peru will also host the First Youth Bolivarian Games in 2015 and the Sports for All International Congress on the same year. “That’s why we need Cuba’s experience in this area,” he said.

The Peruvian official highlighted the historic bonds of friendship between the peoples of Peru and Cuba and noted that, as part of cooperation programs in the field of sports, boxers and weightlifters from his nation are currently in Cuba on training camps.

The Peruvian delegation includes Cenaida Uribe Medina, president of the Commission of Youth and Sports of the Peruvian Congress, who expressed her admiration for Cuba’s development in the sports sector.

“I’m very interested in learning about your experiences in developing and implementing physical education and sports programs not only at the high-performance level but also at schools and neighbourhoods,” she pointed out. (ACN)
