Cuba Relax Holiday: This is the most common option to travel to Cuba. We would strongly advise punters NOT TO travel to Cuba just for the beach. It is simply a waste of money. Most big tour operators will not explain that buying excursions in Cuba is quite expensive. For example, going from Varadero to Havana in an excursion which will merely show you Havana from a bus in about two hours, will cost about £60. What we recommend instead is to do a twin centre holiday in Cuba or even a three centre holiday.">Cuba Relax Holiday: This is the most common option to travel to Cuba.  Author: Miguel Gibson. June 29, 2011 at 3:40 pm. “What is the perfect holiday to Cuba?” many people ask this and it is truly complicated to answer. The truth is that it varies from person to person but based on my 10 years of experience doing holidays to Cuba, I will try to summarise in four scenarios:

Cuba Relax Holiday: This is the most common option to travel to Cuba. We would strongly advise punters NOT TO travel to Cuba just for the beach. It is simply a waste of money. Most big tour operators will not explain that buying excursions in Cuba is quite expensive. For example, going from Varadero to Havana in an excursion which will merely show you Havana from a bus in about two hours, will cost about £60. What we recommend instead is to do a twin centre holiday in Cuba or even a three centre holiday.

Cuba Discover Holiday:For those who want to venture beyond the all-inclusive, there are 3 fundamental options to discover Cuba. You can go on an escorted tour where everything is planned for you. Alternatively you can go for a Self-Drive Cuba holidays: contrary to what some people believe, this is not complicated at all as long as you take the right advice. It really depends on who you are buying and from and certainly should be planned in advance.

Renting a car on arrival in Cuba should be avoided. Unless you have three months to travel around, we would not recommend traveling by train. Thirdly, we now have access to shared transfers across the island which can be combined with casas particulares or hotels. With Cubana Airlines, you can fly into the east and come out of the west saving time and money since a local flight can cost about £80.

Specialized Tours: Specialized Cuba holidays come in all forms. For such a small island, the range is huge: you can have excellent tours of Bird watching, Angling, Cycling tours, Salsa courses and many more. Should you wish to mix-match, that will not be a problem at all.

Tailor-Made Itineraries: If you are unsure on any of the above, then you should speak to a specialised company such as Cuba Direct (www.cubadirect.co.uk). We will be able to combine any travel component that suits your itinerary at the best price. You can also book Cuba Hotels online as well as other products namely Cuba excursions, Cuba transfers and Cuba flights.
