Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- The Cuban people will extend invariable support and encouragement to the Korean people in their cause for the country's reunification, said Juan Jose Leon Vega, first vice-chairman of the Cuban Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification.

At an opening ceremony for the month of international solidarity with the Korean people held in Cuba on June 22 he referred to the solidity of the friendship between the two countries.

He said the U.S. imperialists egged the south Korean puppet forces on to launch a war of aggression against the DPRK on June 25, 1950. But its army and people turned out to defend their land at the cost of their lives, he added.

The Cuban people have positively conducted solidarity movement supporting the cause of the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea for which President Kim Il Sung worked heart and soul till the last moments of his life and to which General Secretary Kim Jong Il has devoted his all, he said.

The peoples of Cuba and the DPRK are comrades-in-arms at the same trench of the anti-imperialist front, he said, emphasizing the U.S. imperialists can never bring the two peoples to their knees.
