The coordinator of the event, Cuban journalist Hilda Prieto, told ACN that more than 20 colleagues from Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador, among other countries, are participating in the meeting, whose program began with a lecture on Patrimonial Culture and Tourism by Saray Moreira, a Public Relations specialist with Habaguanex, a company that manages tourist facilities in Old Havana.

The program includes tours around that part of the city and a visit to the facilities of Habana Radio, the radio station of the Historian’s Office.

Topics to be discussed during the meeting include the current situation and prospects of Cuba as a tourist destination in the Caribbean; social networks and their main uses and applications; global warming and its consequences for world tourism; and the current trends of the new information technologies.

Participants will also visit the tourist resorts of Varadero and Las Terrazas, the Revolution Square, and other places of histories and cultural interest.

The Seminar, which runs until Saturday, is organized by the Havana-based Jose Marti International Institute of Journalism and the Association of Cuban Journalists.(ACN)
