June 27, 2011 in Cuban Consular Services, Society and Cubans. As part of the family reunification program of the U.S. Interests Section in Havana from Washington all Cubans having received family reunification and Parole and being at least 21 years may apply for parole for certain family members.

The day of the interview the solicitor must fill a form DS-230 Part I for each family member willing to request for parole. The appeal is granted parole by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Immigration and Citizenship Services (USCIS) in Cuba, thus the request will be sent to this office and the answer to that procedure will be made within 6 weeks.

The request for parole for Cuban families does not cost anything and does not require filing the affidavit of financial support that would normally be submitted requesting immigrant visa. If approved all Cubans between 16 and 80 years are subject to additional administrative processing which takes place in the United States and that can often delay the approval of 2-3 months after the consular officer has determined that the applicant is eligible for receiving a visa.
