By Carmen Rodríguez Pentón. A challenging program of investments in Sancti Spiritus’ tourism sector aims to restore some of the main tourist facilities in the Cuban central province. Three new hotels are to be built in Southern Trinidad as part of the project to be ended in 2016.

Some 10 million pesos, in national and foreign currencies, will be earmarked to the Tourism Ministry for the rehabilitation and building of its facilities. Most of it will be employed in the Pansea Hotel construction, the second 5 star to-be in Trinidad’s historic center. If everything goes as planned the execution will take 14 months.

Widening the hotel capacity in Trinidad involves also the creation of the Iberostar Ancon Hotel, to be built in the peninsula with 409 future rooms. This will be a 5 star too. Restoration of La Ronda Hotel, an emblem to Trinidad, is also one of the benefits of investments. 17 rooms have been totally rehabilitated and its culmination is scheduled for August.

Maintenance works have been carried out in some other tourist facilities in the province such as Ancon Hotel, Villa Maria Dolores, San Jose del Lago, in Mayajigua, Yaguajay, as well as those in Sancti Spiritus city.
