Sierra Mar and Los Galeones Hotels Among Favorite for Canadians

Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.SANTIAGO DE CUBA.-  The Brisas Sierra Mar- Los Galeones resort, in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, are among the most favorite hotels for Canadian travelers, who choose them for their holidays over and over again.

James R. Preston, a retired man from Ontario, is staying in one these facilities on his 17th trip to this city surrounded by the Sierra Maestra mountain range, in the southern coast of the island.

Preston told ACN that he finds Cuba a safe place and that he feels like home because most of the hotel’s staff the nearby areas, the service is very good as well as the relation quality-price, as compared with other offers in the Caribbean.

This Canadian traveler said he likes Los Galeones better because of its location at 60 meters above sea level, with a peerless view to the sea, and admitted to have come to this facility up to three times in a year.

There is also Keith Tullo, from Ontario as well, who is on his 7th trip to Santiago and has stayed for as long as six months; and Mark Thompson who is on his fifth visit.

Tullo says he prefers the Sierra Mar, while Thompson loves Los Galeones better.

According to Ramon Cots, sales representative of Brisas Sierra Mar-Los Galeones resort, Canada takes up 70 percent of their international guests.

The resort offers every week a special dinner including a few surprises for repeating guests as a token for choosing this destination.

Located by the coast in the form of terraces, and about 65 kilometers from Santiago, Sierra Mar Hotel has 200 rooms and several restaurants and bars on the beach and the pool area. It was inaugurated by Fidel Castro on January 2, 1994 under the name of Sevilla Uno.

The name of the hotel was later changed inspired on the words written by Fidel Castro on the guest book: “Stunning beauty. We are proud. It is enormous the potential of this region of Santiago and Pilo. Mountains [Sierra] and Sea [Mar] are combined in a way that it is hard to match.”

Los Galeones is a smaller adults-only hotel inaugurated on July 24, 1991 with 34 rooms.
