Cuba Receives Gubbio Award for Patrimonial Heritage Protection

The Gubbio Awards for Latin America and the Caribbean bestowed two important awards on Cuba: to the City of Havana Historian Office for restoration works along the Port Avenue; and a special mention to the City of Camagüey Historian Office, for the development of a management model for the Historical Center of Camagüey

CAMAGÜEY.— The Gubbio Awards for Latin America and the Caribbean bestowed two important awards on Cuba: to the City of Havana Historian Office for restoration works along the Port Avenue; and a special mention to the City of Camagüey Historian Office, for the development of a management model for the Historical Center of Camagüey.
Aymara Barreras, head of the Communications and Public Relations Department at the City of Camagüey Historian Office, told JR that other award winning offices in the region included Cuenca’s City Hall, in Ecuador, for the restoration of the 9 de Octubre sector.
Mentions were awarded to the city of Santa Fe, in Argentina, for the restoration of the building of the old General Belgrano train station. The works presented by the Argentinean Cassara Foundation regarding the renovation of a building located in Mayo, number 1190, in the city of Buenos Aires were also recognized.
The Gubbio Award was set up in the 1990s in the city of Gubbio, Italy, to recognize the work of those who defend and improve their heritage. It is granted by the National Association of Historical and Artistic City Centers (ANCSA) in Italy.
