By: Fany Rodríguez. 12:11Havana, Jun 16 (Prensa Latina) At least 30 experts from the United States, Britain, Japan, Brazil and Cuba are attending the 13th International Ernest Hemingway Colloquium, which began today in the Cuban capital.

The event, which runs through Sunday, is honoring the 50th anniversary of the U.S. writer´s death and is focused on three main topics: the subject of death in Hemingway´s writing, his life and work in Spain, and museology and conservation in the collections and museums dedicated to him around the world.

Investigator John Sandford, a nephew of the author of For Whom the Bell Tolls, will attend the colloquium and present his paper, Ernest and Grace: Painting, Omissions and Connections.

Scott McClintock, a member of the U.S. Hemingway Society, has also confirmed his participation.

Other participants include the curator of Hemingway´s bibliographic collection in the John F. Kennedy Library, Susan Wrynn and delegations from the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum in Arkansas and the Oak Par Hemingway Foundation.

The president of the Council of National Cultural Patrimony, Margarita Ruiz, said the event is a way to preserve the legacy of one of the most prolific writers in history.

At least 20 books will be presented at the event, like the one written by Cubans Rosalia Díaz Quintana and Marta Roca Rodriguez, which investigates Hemingway´s personality through his literature.

The 85th anniversary of the publication of his book The Sun Also Rises will also be commemorated, and "Good-bye, Ernest," by Canadian actor and director Brian Gordon Sinclair, will premiere.

Guests will be able to visit historic places frequented by Hemingway, like El Floridita and La Terraza de Cojimar.
