By: Glenda Pardo. Havana, Jun 12 (Prensa-Latina) The 11th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission Cuba-Venezuela showed an important result pointing to the desired consolidation of the economic union between the two countries.

The signing of 116 cooperation programs with a total of over $1,3 billion USD demonstrates the commitment of both parties to make progress in the integration that goes beyond formal statements or wishful thinking.

According to Venezuelan Vice President Rafael Ramirez, the accelerated development to make progresses that have a strong impact in both the economic and social fields is a contribution to strengthen the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA).

The agreements aim primarily to benefit the areas of health, education, culture, sports, food, construction, transportation, communication, information, energy and the strengthening of the Venezuelan social missions.

Key chapters address the contribution to food sovereignty by developing agriculture, livestock, fisheries and by creating new technological accommodation to increase production and efficiency.

In politics, the support of the two countries to the forthcoming establishment of the Community of Latin American and the Caribbean confirms that Cuba and Venezuela want to firmly integrate the region.
