Renowned Cuban artist Raul Paz participates in the 23rd African Music Festival in Wuerzburg, in the German state of Bavaria.

This edition of the event is dedicated to Caribbean islands, due to Africa’s influence in the region, according to information provided by Cuba’s embassy to Berlin.

A musician, a singer and a Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Education, Science and Culture, Paz offered an only concert on Saturday, broadcast live and inserted on the Web site of the French German television channel Arte.

Attending the opening of the event were Winston Peters, Culture Minister of Trinidad Tobago; Georg Rosenthal, mayor of Wuerzburg; Stefan Oschmann, director of the Festival, German culture personalities, and African and Caribbean diplomats accredited to Berlin.

Representing Cuba was Hector Corcho, official of the Cuban embassy’s Cultural Office.

The Concert for the Rose of Calypso, from Trinidad Tobago, was offered after the inauguration, which was followed by another one of Jamaican reggae, with Julian Marley, son of late great musician and composer Bob Marley, known as the king of that rhythm.
