His fans in Camagüey enjoyed the unmistakable rhythm of his band, and to the beat of hits such as “A bailar el toca toca” and “El melon”, the latter owing to the demand of the audience.

The El Caballero del Son (Gentleman of the Son) pointed out that “Nothing is more beautiful than sharing with your people”, that’s why he shared the stage with some bands of this province, like Rumbatá, the flamenco dance company Andarte, the community-based art project Arlequín and the band Soneros de Camacho, conducted by his father Nené Álvarez.

Soloist Tatiana Rojas -accompanied by guitarist Michel Hernández and flautist Katherine de Zayas, whom he described as one of the best musicians of this genre in Cuba- also stepped onto the stage yesterday.

According to Wilmer Ferrer, leader of Rumbatá, Adalberto is a voice, a memory, an excellent composer both in Cuba and abroad.

The hit Entre la rumba y el son, included in his most recently recorded album is an example of how catchy and rich is the music that emerges from the combination of these two styles and bands.

This was corroborated during yesterday’s concert, especially when they performed Y que tú quieres que te den, now with the participation of Rumbatá and the little dancers of Arlequín.

Adalberto Álvarez, authentic son of Camaguey, because this is the way he feels, shows in each performance the vitality of the Cuban popular dance music and his mastery to entertain the audience. (Adary Rodríguez Pérez/ Radio Cadena Agramonte).
