Cuba Hosts Meeting of Control Bodies From Central America and the Caribbean

Sunday, June 05, 2011 11:51 AM. The 35th meeting of the Central American and Caribbean organization of governmental supervising bodies (OCCEFS, Spanish) starts this Friday in Havana at the Palco Hotel.
Cuba, represented by the country's General Comptroller, was elected president of the organization in 2010. OCCEFS emerged in 1995 in El Salvador and comprises control and supervision bodies from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic, Belize and Cuba.
The Organization was created to foster the integration of its members through the exchange of experiences and cooperation and to promote the provision of advisory and technical assistance services. It organizes training courses aimed at the staff of the member entities as a way to promote economy, efficiency and lawfulness in the use of public resources.
