2011.06.03 - 21:11:39 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu. Pinar del Rio, Cuba.- Known as one of the best-known Cuban soneros, Adalberto Alvarez y Su Son is gearing up for its one-month long summer tour across 10 European countries starting July 1.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the artist announced that after the Europe tour, he is planning to give a concert in Peru’s city of Arequipa from where he will return to Cuba.

The musician, known as the “Gentleman of the Son” said an intense program of concerts has been scheduled for the tour which will be followed by shows in different provinces of the island.

According to Adalberto Alvarez, who is a composer, arranger, singer and pianist, the son genre continues to be at the essence of Cuban music.

He said even reggaeton groups in Cuba are adding percussion and wind instruments typical of son bands to their arrangements.
