With this result, Robles not only equalled the season's best mark "set by Chinese Liu Xiang almost two weeks ago during the second stop of the IAAF 2011 Diamond League in Shanghai” but he also proved to be in excellent shape following a modest victory at the Grand Prix of Guadeloupe earlier this month, when he clocked 13.35.

In Hengelo, Robles was followed by Jamaican Dwight Thomas (13.18) and by American Terrence Trammell (13.31).

On another high note, at the IAAF World Combined Events Challenge in Gotzis, Austria, Cuban Leonel Suarez placed second with 8,440 points, only behind reigning World champion Trey Hardee, from the U.S., who set a world season lead with 8,689 units.
