The Artists:

José Fustér is the senior of the group. Born in the province of Santa Clara, Cuba in 1946, he is not only a great painter and engraver, but also Cuba’s premier ceramist, with his home studio structure well known throughout the world. Influenced more by Brancusi than by Gaudi, Fustér, called by many the Caribbean Picasso, says he found art in the Sierra Maestra (Cuba’s mountain range,) a world he has never abandoned, full of trees, peasants, roosters, horses and all sort of colours. Throughout his career, Fustér has conducted hundreds of personal and collective exhibitions throughout the world, including a very successful personal exhibition conducted in November 2009 at the Y Art & Framing Gallery in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, where he sold all of his paintings during the first night of exhibition.
