21 May 2011. Home Affairs Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will today Saturday, 21 May 2011 depart for Havanna, Cuba where she is expected to hold exploratory discussions with her Cuban counterpart on civic and immigration issues.

Minister Dlamini Zuma will be supported by a senior departmental delegation.

This visit follows President Jacob Zuma’s State Visit to Cuba in December 2010, during which Minister Dlamini Zuma signed, with her Cuban counterpart, a Bilateral Visa Waiver Agreement for holders of diplomatic and official passports between the two countries.

The finalisation of this agreement enabled holders of diplomatic and official passports to travel to the respective countries for a period of 90 days without visas which ensures that representatives of their respective governments can conduct their business speedily and efficiently.

Minister Dlamini Zuma and her delegation are expected to return to South Africa on Monday, 30 May 2011.Issued by: Department of Home Affairs 21 May 2011
