Havana, Cuba.- Cuba earned the top spot at the Guildford Invitational Tournament after three wins in as many games to claim the trophy, Eurosport reported.

The Cubans held off the Germans, 58:51, tonight to wrap up their perfect campaign. Suchitel Avila (183-F-82) delivered 13 points and 9 rebounds to pace Cuba.

Grabbing the initiative right from the start, the Cuban team held their opponents to 9 points in the first quarter to take a 7-point lead.

The Cubans increased the tempo in the second stanza accumulating a 13-point lead at the interval 36:23. Germany tried to strike back in the third period and outscored the Caribbean team to narrow the margin at 8 points with one quarter remaining.

The fourth frame was plagued by misses and turnovers as Cuba hung on to win the game.

Leydis Oquendo (180-F-82) had 10 points and 8 rebounds, while Clenia Noblet (191-C-87) finished with 9 points in the win. Sarah Austmann (179-G/F-85) answered with 12 points for Germany. Svenja Greunke (188-F-89) nailed 9 points in defeat.
