The Cuban actress Laura de la Uz has been awarded with the prize to the best female performance for her role in the short movie Los minutos, las horas (Minutes, hours) by the Brazilian director Janaina Marques, in the 12th edition of the Torrelavega International Short–Movie Festival (FICT in Spanish).

The prize to the best male performance went ex aequo, for the first time in the history of the Festival, to the actors from Galicia Jorge Casas and Vicente De Souza for their roles in the short-movie by Iria López, Dos hombres y un suicidio (Two men and a suicide).

Laura de la Uz began her career in 1990 and among her movie performances stands out El cuerno de la abundancia (The horn of plenitude), directed in 2008 by the Cuban director Juan Carlos Tabío. In television, stands out her role in the series ¡Oh, La Habana! (2006) and in theater, the play La boda (The wedding), in 1997, directed by Raúl Martín. Among her awards, stands out those achieved in the Latin American International New Film Festival in Havana in 1990, the Best Actress Award in the Atlantic Festival in Canada, in 1991, as well as three Awards from the Cuba Stage Artists Association.

Vicente de Souza treasures a long experience in cinema, theaters and televisión, in which stands out his work for Antonio Giménez Rico in Hotel Danubio (2002) or for Juan Pinzás in Era otra vez (2000). In theatre he has taken part in more than thirty pieces, and he is best known through the television in which he has starred in episodes from successful series such as Los hombres de Paco, Hospital central, Cuéntame como pasó, MIR, El comisario and in the famous series from Galicia Platos combinados.

Jorge Casas began his career working in the theater company that was directed by his mother and alter his studies he has achieved several successes with the play Contos mariñeiros by the company Os Ghazafellos. The selection of these awards have been in charge of a jury made up by the actors Juan Meseguer, Carolina Lapausa and Raúl Peña, designed by the Union of Actors.

Last Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 there were projected all of the short movies from Cantabria that are aiming for the Cantabria Infinita and Dobra Awards in the Torrelavega Culture House.
