Duanne Alen, a Cuban bartender from the Sol Cayo Coco hotel in Ciego de avila, grabbed the win at the First Latin American Cocktail Championship held at the Costa Adeje Gran Hotel, in Tenerife, Spain.

In this competition, a continuity of the Pan-American event of this specialty attended by the most outstanding bartenders of Latin America, the Cuban representative also classified as the best in technique, the Opciones weekly highlighted on Friday on its Web site.

A worker of the Sol Cayo Coco Hotel, of the Jardines del Rey tourist area, Alen occupies the vice-presidency of the Administrative Committee of the Cuban Association of Bartenders (ACC) in Ciego de Avila province.

Pedro Leonel Medina, national president of the ACC, informed that the first triumph of a Cuban representative in a Pan-American competition took place during the one held in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 2003, scarcely five years after the creation of the ACC.

The ACC, founded in 1998, has also shown its capacity to carry out national and international training courses and to organize events of high rigor, like the Pan-American Cocktail Competition carried out at the Habana Libre Hotel in 2008, described by the executives of the International Bartenders Association (IBA) as one of the best held until today.
