HAVANA, Cuba.- The Cuban ambassador to Beijing, Carlos Miguel Pereira, highlighted this week the great importance that Cuba gives to its relations with the Chinese province of Hubei, where the High Technology Zone of Donghu is located.

During a visit to Wuhan, the capital of this province, Pereira praised the advances and prospects of Cuba’s cooperation with China in the fields of education and biotechnology. At the same time, he expressed Cuba’s interest in working in favor of the exchange and implementation of joint projects in the field of agricultural biotechnology.

The Cuban diplomat met with the general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party in the province, Li Hongzhong, who said that Hubei is a mainstay of China’s industrial and biotechnological development.

He added that this province is willing to expand its cooperation and to implement joint projects in several areas with Cuba.

Also present in the meeting was Dan Changchun, the Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party of the High Technology Zone of Donghu, who accompanied Pereira during a tour around the technological complex.

The Cuban ambassador highlighted the professional level attained by Cuban and Chinese scientists as evidence that both countries agree on the need to continue investing resources in the biotechnology sector. (ACN)
