By: Yoama Chappottin Ford. Havana, May 3 (Prensa Latina) The main activity in Cuba for World Asthma Day this year will be a scientific workshop taking place Tuesday and Wednesday in Havana.

The agenda for the event includes topics such as the epidemiology of asthma, the effects of climate change, updating of the national program, and Cuban research projects.

Other topics include issues related to immunotherapy, current and future aspects of the disease in Cuba, and sports and education in treatment.

The workshop is sponsored by the National Asthma Committee, the Child and Adolescent Asthma Commission, the Vice Ministry of Hygiene and Epidemiology, and the Cuban Society of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology.

World Asthma Day was established in 1998 and is held the first Tuesday of every May.

The World Health Organization sponsors events in about 50 countries around the world to draw attention to this disease, which affects a large part of the global population.
