Cuban Dayron Robles, who holds the world record for the 110-meter hurdles, said he is ready to return to the track after two months of rest due to injury.

Robles told the Cuban press that he no longer has ankle or lower back discomfort after a rigorous strengthening program.

The 2008 Olympic champion said he would compete in Martinique and Puerto Rico, his first two matches, in May, leading up to the World Championship in August, in Daegu, South Korea.

The 24-year-old runner trains three hours daily in Havana, and has plans to win the Pan-American championship in October.

Robles got injured in early February at a competition in Germany, where he tripped on a hurdle. He suffered intense back pain that prevented him from continuing his indoor European circuit.
