Epee specialists from Russia, France, Japan, Switzerland, Austria, Azerbaijan, China, the Dominican Republic, Hungary, Israel, Estonia, Holland, Panama, Poland, Sweden, Chinese Taipei, the United States, Venezuela, Tunisia and Cuba will be competing in the contest that will also serve the local fencers as preparation for next October’s Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The 11-member Cuban squad will be led by 1997 world silver medalist Zuleydis Ortiz and by 2010 Pan American champion Yamilka Rodriguez.

Rigoberto Morejon, national commissioner of the sport, told ACN that the best epee fencers of the world will participate in the tournament looking for a better position in the world ranking and their classification for the London 2012 Olympic Games.(ACN)
