By: Nuriem. Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, Apr 24 (Prensa Latina) With the emblematic music of the group Coro de Claves, guitar chords and decima poetry, the 24th Sancti Spiritus Trova fiesta comes to a close on Sunday, the Cuban News Agency (AIN) reported.

The central province of Sancti Spiritus is the birthplace of important figures in this Cuban musical genre.

Dedicated to the septets Juvenil and Espirituano, the event brought together guests from Ciego de Avila province and performers, trios and groups from all over Sancti Spiritus, with a repertoire of melodies that marked milestones in Cuban musical history.

Sancti Spiritus has kept alive the legacies of trova figures like as Miguel Companioni and Rafael Gomez Mayea, while new talents have emerged to make their own mark, said Julia Regalado, director of the Music Center.

These kinds of events help people learn about those who incorporate other musical elements and about the trios who play trova in its purest form, said musicologist and researcher Juan Enrique Rodríguez.

Jams, recitals and tributes were part of this fiesta of the trova of Sancti Spiritus, which some say is more romantic and lyrical than the trova of the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, where the influence of son is stronger, said Rodriguez.
