2011.04.19 - 11:57:12 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu. HAVANA, CUBA.- A National Conference of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) will take place in January 2012 as announced on Tuesday morning in the closing session of the Sixth Congress of this political organization at Havana’s Convention Center.

According to a document read by the Second Secretary of the PCC, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, the Conference will have the power to update working methods and styles as well as the Party structures and cadre policies. In addition, it will be able to assess and introduce concepts and basic ideas to modify the Party Statutes and other internal regulating documents.

Regarding the Party relationship and links with the Young Communist League (UJC) and the grass-roots organizations, one of the Conference’s goals will be to make recommendations for essential changes in the work of those organizations.

The Conference will also have the power to elect new members to the PCC’s Central Committee and even release from their post recently elected members to this political body.

The document notes that the Conference will have the high responsibility of establishing the foundations to further improve the work of the PCC to guarantee the continuity of Socialism. (ACN)
