Cuba to Hold Scientific Meeting on Asthma

By: Ileana Ferrer Fonte. Havana, Apr 16 (Prensa Latina) The central activity on occasion of the World Asthma Day in Cuba will be focused this year on a scientific forum slated for May 3-4.

The event includes issues such as asthma epidemiology, effects of climate change on the ailment, updating the national program and Cuban researches, organizers said.

Aspects related to immunology, updating and future of the disease in Cuba, as well as sports and education in treating asthma are also on the meetingâ?Ös agenda.

The event is sponsored by the National Asthma Commission, the Infant-Youth Asthma Commission, the Vice Ministry of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the Cuban Society of Allergy, Asthma and Clinic Immunology.

World Asthma Day was established in 1998 and is held on every first Tuesday in May. The World Health Organization sponsors this event, also taking place in some 50 countries.

The objective is to call the attention on asthma that affects a large portion of population around the world.
